Zomba Chinamwali Drop-in Centre held an inspiring career talk on Thursday at New Kingdom School in Njelemani, focusing on the theme of goal setting and decision-making.

The interactive session engaged students in meaningful discussions about the importance of setting goals, the challenges that often come with goal pursuit, and strategies for overcoming those challenges. Students were encouraged to reflect on their aspirations and to develop practical steps toward achieving them.

Chimwemwe Phiri, a 15-year-old Form 1 student, shared his dream of becoming a medical doctor at Zomba Central Hospital. He expressed gratitude for the session, stating it gave him renewed motivation to work hard in school.

“After school, I would like to become a medical doctor at Zomba Central Hospital. The career talk really inspired me to continue working hard to achieve my goal,” said Chimwemwe.

Happiness Chanunkha, Manager of Chinamwali Drop-in Centre, highlighted the purpose of the initiative, emphasizing the importance of early planning and preparation for higher education.

“On behalf of my team at Chinamwali DIC, we believe that bringing this career talk to the school was a brilliant idea. The session was specifically designed to equip students with essential skills and knowledge about goal setting and decision-making, helping them to better prepare for college and university life,” Chanunkha explained.

The session targeted Form 1 and Form 2 students, which are currently the only classes at New Kingdom School. It aimed to lay a strong foundation for the students’ academic and personal growth as they look toward their future careers.
