THE SMARTPHONE WORLD THAT AIN’T THAT SMART

Thanks to Google, we are able to find answers of all the questions in our minds from all corners of the world. Thanks to WhatsApp, and Facebook, we are able to communicate with everyone in the world again. In fact the clear key to all this is thanks to master “TECHNOLOGY”.
We can’t deny the fact that the dawn of the Smartphones is one of man’s greatest innovations. Literary, every uptown human being can’t survive without this technology. Smartphones have made the world go round.
In short, smartphones are every fella’s best friend. You think this is a joke? Reminisce that day you’d forgotten your smartphone at home. How was it? …thank you! Now, I think we’re on the same wavelength.
Well, smart as they may be, but everything, anywhere in the world, has its own setback. Smartphone technology is no exceptional. The coming of this innovation has also led to moral decay in our locales. The dawn of Smartphone era has resulted in honorable men being reduced to stupid dunderheads with just a single touch. Indeed, smartphones have degenerated some (otherwise) respectable cutepies into laughing stocks in our communities. All thanks to WhatsApp, and her cousin, Facebook.
Smartphone, the technology that was meant to make humankind smart, is, to a certain extent not that smart at all; if anything, is making human kind dumber.
Smartphones have amalgamated human kind, regardless of age, into dunderheads of some sort. Insulting? Ever noted how exhilarated men, and women alike react when nude photos of somebody whom either they know, or have no connection with, leak? You’ll find a fully grown man, supposed to be somebody’s father, busy sharing or asking for the leaked nude photos? Like for what really? What’s so good with sharing, let alone getting excited with nudity of some persona whom you have no direct connection?
What satisfaction do we get in demeaning the character of the next man by sharing their leaked nudes? If smartphones were meant to make us smarter, then are we reacting positively?
In the smartphone world, stupidity is what’s going viral at the expense of other important enterprises. Erotic photographs, videos of adult content, explicit music…you name it, are all what’s making rounds in our mobile phone inboxes.
If Smartphone was really meant to make us smart, then why are we not that smarter?
Granted, it’s no crime (to me) to capture oneself naked and send the photos/videos to your loved one (as in a loved one). After all, love is all about sharing. What’s wrong now is when those items get into the wrong hands. And instead of deleting them, you’ll find the so-called smart brain sharing the leakage to their dudes and girls. For what ladies and gents?
Equally baffling are some exes who use such materials to blackmail their former halves. What do you achieve in making some noble person metamorphose into a laughing stock in their societies? Smart brains busy tarnishing the images of their fellow citizenry. All thanks to the smartphone technology, anything is possible.
Different personalities, both well-known and the lesser knowns have had their images tarnished courtesy of the smartphone. If technology was that smart, such kind of photos, or videos could not have been making their way unto the public fora.
Now we have photo-designing packages like Adobe Photoshop, which other ‘smart minds’ tend to abuse. Various friends, foes, colleagues, workmates, relatives, or acquaintances have ever faced societal frown, psychological torture, shame and disgrace all because someone used some computer package to create false embarrassing photographs (with their faces on it). Is this our definition of “Smart”?
Come to think of it, it’s high time we started using the technology appropriately instead of misusing it just for our self gains.
Until we realized that technology, the Smartphone in particular is not that smart, then we have done nothing.
