BAD GIRL THING | LIFESTYLE

It’s ludacris to think a song can contribute to one’s money problems, isn’t it? Well, it’s not, reliable sources indicate that at least one in three people has at least one song they can lament to have wasted their money. Those songs that get you in such a mood, you don’t even mind that you’re investing your hard earned money in a hangover. As if that’s not bad enough, it looks like we have another one of these audio robbers in our midst, Glad-K’s Bad Girl Thing.

Rap? Hip-hop? Dance-hall? Afro-pop? House? Who knows, it’s hard to differentiate these music genres nowadays. One thing we can all do easily though, is to differentiate good music, from bad music; and Glad K’s Bad Girl Ting, is simply that, Good music. This article could be about the lyrics, the delivery, or the specific instruments, in this song, that make it so good. Unfortunately, we are not exactly music experts, so we don’t know the exact formula that the distinguished Mr Glad-K used here; all we know is the first time we played this song, we did not want it to end.

But that’s the beauty about music isn’t it, sometimes you just don’t know what it is that makes a hit. How else can you explain an artist releasing a song that takes the whole country by storm, only for them to be washed away with it, never to be heard from again. “Bad Girl Ting” has that hit factor, that type of element you can’t really point your finger to.

Nyasa-showbiz contacted Glad-K,government name Gladson Kampenya, because we had to do our research on this artist, a song like this surely does not just fall from the sky. The relatively unknown artist, actually happens to have a healthy fan-base in Zomba, where he just completed his studies, at Chancellor College. After sampling a few of his previous songs, it became clear where Bad Girl Ting came from, the man’s got talent, sheer class.

This song is dangerously catchy, Bad Girl Ting will have many people complaining “nyimbo iyi yinandionongela ndalama”. It’s only March, and already 2017 looks to be full of next level music. If this is an indication of what we are to expect from the urban music scene for the rest of the year, then there’s every reason to be excited, and if you’re the 1 in 3 people, then your pockets have every reason to be worried. The song will premier on the next episode of Made on Monday (3rd April),  and be made available for download through Malawi-com afterwards.
