MSAKAKUONA TO STEER THE JUNIOR FLAMES

Football Association of Malawi has appointed former Blue Eagles mentor, Deklerk Msakakuona as Malawi under 17 National team Head coach ahead of Cosafa Under 17 Youth Championship to be staged in Mauritius next month.

According to a press statement issued by the Football Association of Malawi and signed by its General Secretary, Alfred Gunda, the decision follows resolutions made during the governing body’s quarterly meeting on the 17th of June 2017 (in Blantyre).

Among other key decisions made during the meeting was “the appointment of the technical panel for the Malawi Under 17 National Football which is expected to go into camp shortly in preparation for the Cosafa Under 17 Youth Championship to take place in Mauritius next month.” Read part of the release.

Msakakuona will be deputized by Wizards Fc’s Technical Director, Peter Mponda, whilst Enos Chatama is to be the Team Manager.  

The Junior Flames opponents in Group A are the hosts, Mauritius, Zimbabwe, and Botswana.

In last year tournament, the Junior Flames finished on the third spot, with Peter Banda as the tournament’s golden boot winner with 5 goals. Overall, 48 shots found the net in the16 matches played.
