……………………. BLUE EAGLE MUST EYE TNM SUPER LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP

It seems the much touted Nomads’ fundraising strategies ahead of the forthcoming Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) Champions league is in tatters as testified by their GS, Mike Butao. For starters, the team had put a MK98 million budget to carter for the squad in its CAF participation. Now, according to its fundraising strategy, Nyerere was to raise 60% of the said amount, meaning it had to raise about MK58.8 Million.

 Now, 20 plus days later, raising about 5% of their target, which is roughly, close to K4.9 million is dehumanizing. For a team with a mammoth following like Nyerere, such a contribution is counter-development to the team’s morale ahead of the forthcoming tourney. Where’s the loyalty from the blue cadets?

Elsewhere, being a sports fan means more than just attending matches; it requires fans to submit theirselves to serve the team both economically and socially. That’s what being a fan means.  

If the fans, are failing to donate a penny to the teams, The Attacking Goalkeeper does not think they are capable of owning a team. It’s high time the Nomads borrowed a leaf from the Red side of Blantyre when Bullets was sailing through turbulent waters.   It is through such tough times that true supporters come in! it’s not too late to assist. After all, you claim to be the wise people’s choice, so walk the talk!!

Now to the Executive, it seems the idea of fundraising came a bit late, for God’s sake, I thought you knew this even before claiming the super league championship? Why did you leave it till January 2018? Launching fundraising plan in January was a miscalculated move! It could have come a little bit earlier.  

Anyway it’s not too late! May be something can pop up! Let’s knock the doors of potential well-wishers. As for the fans, you’ve given your team a raw deal.

The clawless Blue Eagles who can’t fly

Enough of Bullets and Nomads, let me divert my attention to another sleeping giant that refuses to wake up, Blue Eagles. This appears to be one of those TNM Super League powerhouses that have no championship winning formula. Every season, this Police sponsored side, always starts well; but along the way, it always goes astray.  For a team that has been in the league for ages, and with a fat sponsorship, it is high time it utilizes the current transfer window and recruit players that have a winning strategy. Targeting a top 5 spot is no longer an achievement; Eagles must aim higher!
