FROM THE TERRACES:  DON’T FOOL US KHUDA, THAT MDF JOB IS ENVIOUS

NEWS | SPORTS

By Dudcorf Junior (Old Zaks)

Now that the official handler of this column, my good old friend from the Terraces, the AG is on leave, I the legendary, Ol Zaks have taken the mantle of the musings from the stands.

News that is making rounds is about one of our promising forwards, Khuda Muyaba, whom, a couple of weeks ago, was still a registered player of Moyale Barracks FC.

Various events have been going around him, and to cut the story short, he went A.W.O.L from the Lions of Kaning’ina den. News had it that he was in Lilongwe training with Kamuzu Barracks FC, without the blessing of his team.

Unlike most of TNM Super league players, Khuda was also an employee of the Malawi government under the Malawi Defense Forces.

So, for over 23 working days, Khuda did not report for duties. That, as per explanation of one Moyale Barracks officiasl who told a local radio recently, means automatically, the culprit had ceased to be the employee of the said camp.

Now, instead of showing some remorse or some discipline as his (previous) profession had instilled in him over the years, Khuda chose the civilian way; he took it to the social media, and ranted.

According to the post on his official Facebook account, Khuda claimed he was very excited to have kicked the ‘dictatorial Moyale Barracks FC’ out of his life and expects to succeed and live happily-ever-after after.

“ndipo mwandichita bwino kundichosa ntchito koz ndakana  kumenya team yanu” Reads part of the post .

Fellow soccer pundits, this is not the first time Khuda has been featured on this column, both for wrong and similar reasons; lack of self-censorship.

It’s high time he had a football manager who could be guiding him of his professional handling of soccer-related issues if he is to stay relatively longer in his career.

A player of his caliber should not fool us that he is happy to have ditched, rather, to have been dumped by Moyale Barracks FC. He has lost the plot.   Here’s why;

  • Talent is the best asset, yes! but Discipline reigns supreme!  His (former) club might be on the wrong side, or the other way round  but still the naturally gifted  striker, Khuda could have been so professional by following the proper transfer request channels; we could have supported him.  No player is bigger than a football club! What if Moyale Barracks FC decides not to issue him a transfer clearance? What would before him? Search me!
  • Football is a short term career: In Malawi it’s not only soccer being short, it’s about football not being profitable to the extent of relying on game bonuses and team salary only to eke a living.

Khuda is 25. He only has less than 5 years to play actively. After that, he would not be that marketable on the pitch. This means his limited game appearances which also translates into minimal game bonuses. This is where the salary from the MDF could have been handy. But not with Khuda!

Fellow members of From the Terraces, I’m neither cursing nor doubting Khuda’s abilities. NO! But the player’s hasty decisions is uncalled for! He should learn to follow proper channels. Every profession has its own rules and regulations. This boy needs some panel beating!!! If not very careful, this saga could mark the end of Khuda’s playing career. Let’s wait and see!
