Enterprising Kelvin, Sings Victory

By Anderson Manning’s Gowa

Listening to Kelvin Sings’ new gospel tune in town, one thing is for sure, Malawi is moving up the ladder music wise.

The gospel piece with well plaited lyrics ignites on a note of ovation to Jesus Christ Kelvin intelligently interweaves 1 Corinthians 6:19 bible verse that talks of our bodies being the temple of the Holy Spirit the moment we received him. As such, we should not get worried with our misdemeanors as he cares for us day in day out.

From part two of verse one, the intelligence of Sings manifests as he likens his doing well in exams to an all-conquering late Malawi pugilist, Nginjale Young Tough Ben Chitenje, who in his time tormented fellow boxers even before going into the ring with his provocative pre-match gibbering in the media.

Kelvin seems to be on cloud nine as he can’t contain the abundant blessings Jesus has bestowed upon him and he is in no hiding mode that of late whatever his hands lay upon, fruits of victory pop up nonstop. He further reminds bystanders to praise the one above for his works are manifesting on Kelvin.

Jiya ndaionesa nginjale
Blessings on me kulikonse ndingavaye
Lately everything seems to be going my way
Like that’s the only way that they should go huh my way

The pre chorus is another arena that shows the skills contained in this gospel masterpiece. Kelvin is of the view that while he is busy relaxing, though in a constant battle with Satan’s treacherous machinations, Jesus is winning battles for him.

The song guarantees believers that once “you” have Jesus, you have an immediate helper and be certain of power “all day everyday” as Jesus is the switch operator for the much needed momentum to power our lives without blackouts.

Chiyambile nsinapiteko kunkhondo
Zikavuta ndimagwadwa pamaondo
He’s got the keys to the power Egenco
I Am not to be praised but the man up above

With the artistic hands of Blage on the production, the chorus cements the assumption that Malawi music is indeed growing wings. The worship chorus from worship leader Todd Dulaney’s adds color to the already gorgeous song by bringing in a different aspect of singing that we haven’t witnessed of late.

With an urban accent verse two declares the prowess of Jesus as Kelvin equates him to the watchman who is not only guarding the physical stature but even his spiritual wellbeing; making sure that Satan is nowhere in sight as victory doesn’t belong to him but to Jesus alone.

Malawi needs more of such tunes. Enough of boring repetitive tunes our ears have been digesting for years past. Tunes that copy and paste bible verses on rhythms.
