BIO

  • Full Name: Tadala Daniel Kasinjeni
  • Stage Name Meaning & Origin: Mic Mash stands for “Microphone Mash.” The name originates from the Bible, referring to a place where the Philistines camped when Saul and his 2,000 soldiers were preparing for battle. Inspired by this, he gave it a second meaning—Mashing the Microphone.
  • Date of Birth: 3 January 1999
  • Life Outside Music: A student at Mzuzu University, founder of Look Sharp Photography, art explorer, and manager.

ORIGIN OF HIS MUSIC PASSION

Early Days

Mic Mash’s musical journey began at the age of 8, inspired by his late cousin SKA, a rapper from the early 2000s. He started by singing in a church choir but always dreamed of becoming a famous rapper.

His love for hip-hop intensified after watching Eminem’s “Toy Soldiers” and “When I’m Gone.” Initially struggling with songwriting, he would compile bars from different artists to create his own verses.

School Influence

  • At Nkhatabay Secondary School, he met artists like Jay Jay Cee. The two would skip prep classes to rap near a water tank by the tuck shop. Mic Mash loved battle raps, though he often lost at first.
  • At Dedza Secondary School, he encountered talented artists such as Morality C and Baxxy of Biscuit Music.
  • He also met Takula Nkambeni, a talented lyricist and Drake fan, who wrote for him. However, Mic Mash later learned to write his own bars after realizing Takula was taking credit for his songs.

Transition to Gospel Music

Initially recording secular music, his first song, Hustle Ya Mughetto, was produced by Crack. However, after giving his life to Christ, his focus shifted from fame and fortune to ministry and spreading the Gospel. His breakthrough came at Dedza Government Secondary School, where he won a rap competition, solidifying his belief in the power of music.
