The honeymoon that rookies, Chitipa United enjoyed after frustrating Nyasa Big Bullets to a nil nil draw in its first TNM match has finally come to an end as it has been baptized over the weekend.

On Saturday, the Chitipa-based outfit succumbed to a 2- 0 defeat at the hands of resurrected Premier Bet Wizards in a match played at Mulanje Park Stadium. The goals came from Misheck Bottoman and Niikiza Amiable.

On Sunday, the panel-beating continued as other new entrants into the TNM topflight league, Blantyre United, massacred Chitipa United with a 4- 0 baptism at the same venue.

This means Chitipa United is yet to find the net, and also is the team that has let in a lot of goals; 6.

The victory sees Wizards momentarily steering the league with four points in two games, and Civil Sporting Club is anchoring the log table with no point in two games. 2016 champions, Kamuzu Barracks FC are also yet to record a point having lost their only match this season (against Mighty BeForward Wanderers).

In other matches, Mzuni FC came from behind to accumulate maximum points after seeing off Dwangwa United FC 1-2 at the latter’s own backyard, Chitowe Stadium on Sunday.

Other new entrants in the league, Master’s Security FC saw off Civil Sporting Club by two goals to one. Former Flames on and off forward, Robin Ngalande scored a brace whilst Innocent Tanganyika scored the consolation goal for the Lilongwe-based outfit.
