2019 TRIPARTITE ELECTIONS…YOUTHS ON THE MOVE

EM SPECIALS!

“Youths are leaders of tomorrow.”- Next time you hear somebody uttering such a nonsensical statement, please rush them to the nearest psychiatrist, for it is not only an insult to our (youths’) minds but also an archaic statement that has no room for today’s livelihood.

Examples are plenty showcasing that youths are not only pivotal in any country’s development but are also key players, captains of various developmental ships; locally and internationally.

Talking of local events, it is undeniable that the wind of tripartite election in 2019 is gaining momentum.  Almost every corner of the streets of Chilinde, Kaning’ina, Sadzi, Ndirande…you name it, any conversation does have some political element in it. You think this is an over statement? Go through the Facebook account of local iconic rapper, Mandela ‘Third Eye’ Mwanza and you would understand what we are driving at.

Being noble citizens, EM has decided to give room to all young political aspirants in the forth-coming general elections to lay out their ideas via this podium. As usual, EM take no sides; all it is going to be doing is giving a platform where young political hopefuls can meet their fellow youths and interact on issues of national interest.

So, our maiden guest under this column is Chitipa Wenya aspirant, Davis Paulos Ng’ambi.

MEET DAVIS PAULOS NG’AMBI; A POLITICIAN WITH A HEART OF GOLD

Profile By Philes Davis, & Gibson C Kamanga

  • Name: Davis Paulo Ng’ambi
  • Position aspired for: Member of Parliament
  • Constituency: Chitipa Wenya
  • Political Party: Democratic Progressive Party (DPP)

Brief life history

Born on the 16th of December 1969, DAVIS PAULO NG’AMBI is a patriotic Malawian from Chisenga village in the district. He is a husband and a loving father of three; 2 girls and 1 boy. To those who have known Davis for years, they will tell you two attributes; a humble and hard- working citizen.

Davis’ philosophy revolves around giving back to the community that has shaped him into who he is today.  Whenever his surrounding is happy, he feels satisfied as well, more especially when he has contributed a little to the former’s happiness.

So who is Davis Paulo Ng’ambi?

Davis is a holder of a Diploma in Business Management (first class), and is also currently studying towards a Degree on the same. Minus being successful entrepreneur in the district, he has ever been a civil servant for some years and has also worked with Northern region water board.

However, he forced himself into early retirement so he could be closer to his villagefolk, his people. And now, he has been in Chitipa for as many years.

Origin of the political passion

Having grown up in Wenya Constituency, Davis has seen it all. Year in year out, parliamentarians have been emerging. And year in year out, it has been the same old story…duping the village folks as once the former were given the mantle to lead the constituency, all have been following a similar pattern; heading to city centres and lived La Vida Loca lifestyles.

Such has been the case with Chitipa Wenya constituency for after 54 years since the birth of Mother Malawi, the area is still a sorry sight. It is in underdeveloped.

It is from such observations from his childhood that Davis’ passion to ascend to the highest office in the constituency grew.

“I’ve been witnessing politicians attaining public offices and duping the voters as most of them (politicians) flocked to city centres and spent almost all the fours year there. In the fifth year, that’s when you could see them emerging again, sugar-coating the masses to vote for them for one more term,” he recalls.

Why he thinks being an MP would be best to develop Chitipa

To Davis Ng’ambi, being a leader is more than just being popular. To him, leadership is all about humility, passion and capabilities to move the populous to greater heights. Unlike others before him, his core business is to see people from Chisenga, Wenya, Nthalire and other surrounding areas being at the same wavelength as the rest of the 192 other constituencies. His dream is to see a child from Wenya enjoying the same quality education as that from Lilongwe City centre. Indeed, it is the dream of Davis Ng’ambi that one day, a woman from Nthalire would have better health facilities within walkable distances. Such is his dream.

If him alone would have the resources, he could have spearheaded the developments singlehandedly. Unfortunately, that, currently, is not the case.  Now, Davis is of the view that being  an MP would give him an upper hand as he is going to raise the said social challenges in Parliament and hopefully get enough funds to work on whatever is needed in his constituency.

To him, his job is going to be simple; bridging his constituents to the powers that be. That simple.

Why him?

Davis Paulo Ng’ambi feels he is the missing link in his constituency. Having observed the calibre of MPs that have ever been entrusted by the voters, he feels time is now ripe for Chitipa Wenya Constituency to taste a new face in him. His line of view is that there is a need for his constituency to have fresh ideas, a candidate who thinks outside the box. A candidate who has a totally different mindset than those before, and that is none other than Davis Paulo Ng’ambi.

“I want Chitipa Wenya to have a different mindset by having somebody who thinks outside the box. I want my constituents to grow and live in a habitable environment,” he promises.

And that is not all, Ng’ambi wants to see the youths from his area being empowered so as to be productive.

“I’m here to empower and encourage the youths to be vibrant and take active roles in various spheres of life.  I’ll create something for them so they can be busy with something productive unlike indulging into bad behaviors as is currently the case,” he reveals.

It is with such a mentality that one Davis Paulo Ng’ambi is strongly convinced that through the assistance of his Democratic Progressive Party, he has the midas key to unlock all the challenges his constituency has been facing over the years come May 2019.
